This drawing is based in "The Lesson" a black and white batman story in which Bruce is very damn creepy. Batman it's talking (rather cruelly) to a young Dick Greyson in the Batcave. Among the things they discuss is the kid being too weak to fight (and therefore useless) and how he needs to be stronger so that the incident with his parents never repeats itself.

Then Alfred comes and we find out that it was Bruce all along, not Dick. But then, who was the bat shadow Bruce was talking to?

So yeah. Creepy little Bruce. Was he talking to the much discussed and infamous Bat-god, an entity that uses him to protect Gotham and chose him since he was young? Or was he talking to a sort of split personality? The creation of a young boy disturbed, traumatized and plagued with guilt, that accuses him and taunts him for his weakness, that takes the form in his head of one of his greatest fears: the bat. I think this is rather possible, and that this personal boogey-man that he creates it's what he would later strive to become when he decides to be Batman.

TL;DR: BRUCE IS A FUCKED UP PERSON, AND VERY LIKELY WAS A CREEPY AS FUCK KID. A KID THAT TALKED TO A GIANT BAT THAT MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN REAL.

"Young master, we agreed that you wouldn't come down here alone"

"Who says I was alone?"

Well, Bruce or rather in this case Batman is very insane.
Most people would say he's not just because he fights for justice and all that but anyone that keeps a private museum of souvenoirs of weapons and outfits of criminally insane people he's hunted himself, dresses up as a bat most of the time, fights crime that uses illegal methods, houses secret technology from the public, and allows kids to be put into dangerous situations is missing a few screws, don't you think? XD

Crazy Bruce is highly underrated. Most comic fans and writers deny the fact that he's nuts because there are more liberties in the comic book world when it comes to "normal behavior" but Batman hardly follows that.

The picture is awesome. I love the shadow and little huddled Bruce. Wish I could find that comic you were talking about.

Ho' shizzle. CREEPY FACTOR OFF THE SCALE.

But yes I think he's a bit crazy. I mean after seeing his parents killed in front of his eyes, then going on a insane training thing with Ras Al Ghul, I think I'd go a wee bit crazy as well.

And I believe that he would create a form for his weakness as a form of coping with the emotional strain of it all and also as a way of confronting that weakness. Poor messed up kid.

On another note, I need to find that creepy Batman comic. And when I read the description I thought you were talking about All Star Batman and Robin. XD

"I'm the goddamned Batman."

Yaayy for mindfuck. This is why I love Batman so much :'D Everyone is so screwed over. It's nice to see Batman without heroic poses or slightly-emo poses; it's rare that people explore and emphasise on this part of Bruce. And thanks, I never really thought about Bruce being a bit of a creepy kid; burdened, reserved, but I hadn't thought about slightly deranged. The story sounds familiar, but you said 'black and white' so I suppose it's a comic and I haven't read many. xD I am very eager to see more like this : D <33

Owlman: Why didn't you just kill her?
Batman:...
Owlman: *pulls out a gun* We aren't going to get along, are we?
Batman: Apparently not.

That's exactly why I love Batman too! That, and because it crossovers nicely with the horror genre, specially the lovecraftian type :D. And I guess to me, Bruce is still a scared little boy deep inside and Batman is his way of coping with this. To be even scarier so he won't get hurt.

And honestly, If my parents had been shot down as a kid, I would've gone crazy as well. It's enough to disturb anyone. And Bruce does not have many normal response (BATMAN), so yeah, I guess he would be kind of a creepy kid.

The story is I think in Batman Gotham Knights #20.
